You no longer need to have the Uber app installed to order a cab

Uber adds a new service Dial an Uber across all Indian cities where it operates.

Ride-hailing app Uber recently added a new feature to its platform. This feature allows users to request for a cab without having to order it from the app itself. This feature called ‘Dial an Uber’ operates from the user’s mobile phone browser and is available in 29 cities in India.

While the feature is set to be available in 29 cities, it will start off in four cities including Nagpur, Kochi, Guwahati and Jodhpur. The new feature is targeted to users who are have poor connectivity.

In order to order for an Uber cab through the mobile browser, here is what you need to do:

-- Enter (dial.uber.com) on your mobile phone browser.

-- Enter your mobile number and login/sign up.

-- Receive pricing information, fare estimate and other such details.

-- Get connected with the driver and coordinate the pick-up/drop location.

-- Once the cab ride is over, pay the driver in cash.

(Note that cancellation of a ride will incur charges that will added to your next ride.)

“We began with introducing ‘Dial an Uber’ – an ‘India first Innovation’ in four cities, as a pilot to overcome the challenge of serving under all kinds of networks, especially low or poor connectivity. Buoyed by the overwhelming responses, we are pleased to announce a national roll-out,” said Apurva Dalal, Uber India’s head of engineering.
