Indian Government Issues High Severity Warning for Android Users
The Central government has issued “High” severity warning for Android users, highlighting multiple vulnerabilities that affect Android versions 12, 12L, 13 and 14.
Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that attackers could exploit these vulnerabilities to obtain sensitive information.
"Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Android which could be exploited by an attacker to obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges and perform denial of service(DoS) attacks on the targeted system,” stated the advisory.
These vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, System, Google Play system updates (Remote Key Provisioning subcomponent), Kernel, Arm component, Imagination Technologies components, Unisoc components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components.
CERT-In advised Android users to apply appropriate updates when made available by the respective OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), like Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others.
All Android users are advised to install the latest security updates. Android users can protect their devices from these vulnerabilities once they update their devices.
