iPhone 17 Pro May Feature Rectangular Camera Setup, Aluminium Frame
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series lineup in September 2025, and rumours surrounding the upcoming iPhones have been emerging, even though there are 9 months left for the launch.
The purported image of the iPhone 17 Pro’s frame has surfaced on Weibo, suggesting that the Pro models will feature a horizontal camera setup. This implies that Apple might abandon the rounded square camera setup in favor of a rectangular one.
The Information earlier reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will get a rectangular camera bump made of aluminium rather than traditional 3D glass.
Apart from the camera setup, the image also revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro may feature an aluminium frame. The back of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may feature a half-aluminium and half-glass design. The bottom half will be made of glass to support wireless charging.
Apple is reportedly planning to bring back aluminium frames to the entire iPhone 17 lineup. The tech giant used an aluminium frame for the standard models like the iPhone 16 as well as for the lower-end iPhone SE. Till the iPhone 14 Pro models, the company used stainless steel frames and introduced a titanium chassis for the iPhone 15 and 16 flagship models.
The new camera setup will be one of the significant design changes to the high-end iPhones in recent years. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to be launched along with the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air next year.
