Xiaomi launches budget Android Redmi 3S in India for Rs 6,999 onwards
Chinese giant Xiaomi has unveiled its next offering in the Redmi smartphone series, the Redmi 3S Prime. India is the first overseas country to witness Redmi 3S launch.
The Redmi 3S was launched in China back in June at a price of CNY 699 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant, while the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant called 3S Prime was priced at CNY 899. Xiaomi has announced the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime for India and priced it at Rs 6,999 and Rs 8,999. Sales for the Redmi 3S devices will start on 9th August at 12pm.
Specification wise, the smartphone offers a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.1GHz and backed by an Adreno 505 GPU.
It runs on the dated Android 5.0 Lollipop OS on top of company’s own custom Android OS, MIUI 7. It features a hybrid dual-SIM slot and also has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
On the optics division, the smartphone packs a 13MP rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus) with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. For selfies the device has a 5MP front facing camera with 1080p recording capabilities.
On the connectivity front, it offers 4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB. The Redmi 3S will be juiced by a huge 4100mAh battery, which claims of around 3 days of battery life, depending on how you use the device and what apps you install and run on the phone. The Redmi 3S weighs around 144g—thanks to the large battery onboard.The Redmi 3S will be available in two variants (2GB RAM and 3GB RAM) and in three different colours (Gold, Dark Grey and Silver)
