Mi A2 with stock Android 8.1 leaks on the Internet
If there has been ever a smartphone hyped to the clouds, it has to be the Xiaomi Mi A2. Since the launch of the Mi 6X in China a few months ago, fans of across global markets have been eagerly anticipating the launch of Xiaomi’s next Android One smartphone. While a report mentioning a Xiaomi official denying the existence of the Mi A2 project, several leaks across the Internet have been throwing up information about the upcoming midrange smartphone that the fans are eagerly waiting for.
There’s been another leak of the Mi A2, showing the device’s front. The display appears to be an 18:9 panel, which resembles the Mi 6X and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The phone appears to be running an Android One ROM with a completely stock build of Android 8.1 Oreo. The device also has the May security patch installed. The screen does confirm that the Mi A2 will be a reality. The front also seems to be housing a selfie camera with a high megapixel count along with an LED flash.
While the leak doesn’t mention any other information, it’s expected that Xiaomi’s Mi A2 will essentially be a rebranded Mi 6X, albeit with stock Android instead of their proprietary MIUI OS. The Mi A2 is expected to sport a Snapdragon 660 chip paired along with 4/6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The smartphone is expected to sport dual rear cameras and borrow the 20MP front shooter from the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Expect Xiaomi to price it competitively with Nokia’s Android One lineup in the budget midrange segment.
