A new all-rounder \'pops\' up
The world of smart phones is a funny one. When a new feature -- say, a pop-up camera -- is introduced by one of the biggies, it is featured in their most expensive phone. Other brands catch on to pop-up cameras and introduce them in their flagship phones. Just when we start to believe that pop-up cameras are an expensive affair, mid-range and even entry-level devices start featuring them, making pop-ups a must-have functionality. It looks like Huawei wanted to play the wait-and-watch game and introduce its first pop-up camera offering on a device that costs less than Rs 16,000!
Huawei is a brand that has made big investments in localized R&D, for India, in areas of camera technology, battery management and user interface experience. It has busted the myth that camera specs and battery mAh numbers work on the 'big is better' philosophy. With its latest number -- the Y9 Prime 2019 -- Huawei has created a mix of millennial- friendly features with special focus on photography, design and gaming. Its 16 MP front pop-up camera comes with fall protection and AI image optimization features and retouches the intensity of the image, at the back end. The primary triple camera (16 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP) comes with a wide-angle and 6P lens, and has special enhancements for broad perspective shots, especially while you are shooting buildings and scenery.
Powered by a 4000mAh battery and a Kirin 710 AI processor, the Y9 Prime 2019 features all-around antenna technology, which boosts signals, irrespective of screen orientation. With intelligent features like multiple eye protection modes, the device doesn't have blingy design, but good hand-feel with a mild and tasteful texture block design. Priced at Rs 15,990 (4 GB + 128 GB), it is a good bargain for those that seek little bit of everything from a brand that is good at most things.
