Apple iPhones to finally get in-display fingerprint sensors in upcoming models

According to a new report, the company could be heading back to touch ID with their next series of iPhones.

Apple completely ditched the Touch ID systems on their iPhones in 2017 when they brought the iPhone X into the market. The newer Face ID system that used a 3D model of the user’s face to secure the phone completely replaced the fingerprint sensors found on the home button of iPhones and it was believed that the iPhone 8 series would be the last phones by Apple to use Touch ID.

However, according to a new report, the company could be heading back to touch ID with their next series of iPhones. Moreover, since Apple has started using OLED panels now with the iPhone 11 series, it may very well be a possibility that the brand will implement in-display sensors on the upcoming devices.

The report by Bloomberg, states that we could see in-display fingerprint bearing iPhones as early as in the year 2020. While we think that date could maybe pushed to 2021, it is still a welcome change that we believe many iPhone fans will approve of.
