Reliance LYF smartphone catches fire, company investigates
A month ago, the South Korean electronics company Samsung announced a global recall of its new flagship phone, the Galaxy Note 7, as dozens of Note 7 units had exploded. Later the news about Apple explosive iPhones was reported. And now a new report where a Reliance Lyf customer, Tanvir Sadiq tweeted about how his Reliance LYF phone catches fire has surfaced.
Tanvir Sadiq, a political secretary to the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, along with some images of his charred LYF smartphone tweeted, “My family had a narrow escape today after @Reliancejio’s @ Reliance _LYF phone exploded and burst into flames.”
“@reliancejio this is serious and needs to be looked into immediately and all such phones need to be recalled immediately @Reliance_LYF,” Sadiq added.
In response, LYF apologised Sadiq for the incident in a tweet. Reliance is said to be investigating on the incident.
Following Sadiq’s post, former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah retweeted Sadiq saying, “Glad everyone is safe Tanvir. This looks like it was a very narrow escape. I won't be using my handset anytime soon, that's for sure.”
