HOW TO: Play YouTube in the background on your iPhone
There is no denying, YouTube is one of the most famous and convenient source of ‘everything’ for most people. But nothing in the world is more annoying than YouTube not letting you use any other application while playing a video on its app.
Well, we found the trick! If you have an iPhone or iPad running on the iOS 7/iOS 8, you can now play YouTube videos in the background on your device. Viola!
To do so, you need to launch your Safari app, go to the YouTube website and play in your favourite video. Now when you will switch to any other app or to the homescreen, the video will stop playing. Now here’s the trick, just slide up the iOS Control Centre, and hit the play button, and the video will begin to play in the background. You can do the same when your iPhone screen is off. Yes, it was that simple!
However, this does not work on the YouTube app, you will have to use it on Safari. Also, once you play the video, you can switch applications while playing the video in the background, but you cannot switch between the tabs on Safari. So if you need to browse other websites while playing YouTube in the background, you will have to download a third party browser.
