Apple to use a triple-camera system in the iPhone X Plus: Report
It appears that rumours about Apple’s upcoming iPhone X Plus are gathering steam. The latest leak pertains to the camera setup on the rumoured larger iPhone X and this time around a leaked schematics show that Apple will use a triple-camera system.
According to a report, the author speaks about a partnership with accessory manufacturer Ghostek that saw him leak the final design of the Samsung Galaxy S9. He says that now, he has been able to acquire schematics for both the budget iPhone X as well as ‘super-sized’ iPhone X Plus. He notes that though he expects the budget version to be a best seller, he believes that the iPhone X Plus will shake up the smartphone world.
Speaking about the iPhone X Plus, the author claims that Apple will introduce a triple camera system. Huawei already makes use of a triple-camera system in the P20 Pro and was the first to bring such technology to the smartphone world. With a triple-camera system on the iPhone X Plus, this feature has the possibility of reaching the masses.
As per the report, the author states, “Apple’s triple lens setup is currently unknown, but it would make sense to copy Huawei’s approach of a monochrome camera aiding the primary and telephoto modules. This produced class-leading low light photography. Low light is also an area where Apple has struggled against over recent years. Interestingly, I understand the second generation iPhone X will stick to two cameras so - once again - Apple will save its flagship photography for the largest (and most expensive) model.”
An interesting point to note here is that although Apple has managed to fit a 6.5-inch display into the iPhone X Plus that features a footprint that is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X Plus is said to measure 157.2 x 77.1 mm while the iPhone 8 Plus measures 158.4 x 78.1 mm. The report notes that the handset will be heavier than the iPhone 8 Plus as it will feature a steel chassis at 202g as opposed to the aluminium chassis.
