Apple iPhone 12 killer to come with radical camera technology

Apple’s biggest rival will come with some major upgrades which include a 5x optical zoom lens and a 108MP sensor.

The iPhone 11 Pro series has just been launched and all eyes are now focused on its competition as the iPhone 11 Pro variant is said to come with the industry’s best camera sensors. The 2020 iPhone 12 is expected to top that as it will come with next-generation technology which includes upgraded an all-new design, an in-display fingerprint scanner and cameras that will top the current flagship. However, it appears that Apple’s biggest rival is preparing something of their own and this includes significant improvements to the cameras. This handset could well be next year’s iPhone 12 killer even though it will launch in the first half of 2020.

Excitement is already at an all-time high when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S11 and now it is at a tipping point as the latest details about its cameras have been detailed. The handset is said to be “a new beginning” and the Samsung flagship will come with a huge leap forward in camera tech. This will certainly put some Galaxy fans at ease especially since the brand has been using an outdated sensor on its Note 10 and at the same time dishing out its best camera hardware to competitors rather than using it on their own devices.

A fresh report by a Korean website, The Elec has stated that on the Samsung Galaxy S11 we can expect a 5x optical zoom as well as Samsung’s newest 108MP sensor that has most recently been used on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 and Mi Mix Alpha handsets.

If the latest rumour is anything to go by, the Samsung Galaxy S11 will feature a 5x optical zoom capability with the help of a periscope lens that’s launched by Samsung Electro-Mechanics earlier this year. It’s the same design that’s found on the much-loved OPPO Reno 5G and the Huawei P30 Pro.

This periscopic lens system enables the use of high magnification modules that are mounted sideways within the smartphone. This helps in keeping the width of the smartphone down to a minimum. The lens also helps in providing better telephoto performance than digital zoom by retaining details at longer distances.

A related report by Forbes states, “When combined with the Galaxy S11’s expected 108-megapixel main rear camera, the addition of 5x optical zoom module promises significant improvements in camera performance for Samsung next year. Loyal Samsung fans could finally be about to get the smartphone camera they deserve.”
