iPhone Calendar spam; how to get rid of it
Apple iPhone users are reporting to receive spam emails with calendar invitations offering discounts on designer brands.
The flaw has been there for a while, but it is assumed to rise during Black Friday period.
Apple’s iPhone operating systems iOS scans emails for messages that may contain a calendar invitation. The operating system then notifies users about the event invitation found in an email.
The feature is considered useful, but it can be misused by spammers offering voucher deals. However, such spam can be ignored by tweaking your iPhone settings.
To shut the calendar invite notification off Apple iPhone owners need to log in to their iCloud account and open ‘Advanced’ setting under ‘Calendar ‘option. Change invitations from In-app notification to receiving email ones. This will allow users to receive calendar invites as emails, rather than as a pop-up notification in iPhone’s calendar app.
