Windows Phone users here's some sad news for you

Microsoft scraps 100,000 apps from Windows Store in a recent cleanup process.

If you are using a Windows Phone, you may be in for a mild shock as your smarpthone could now seem to be dying an early death. With the operating system’s owner, Microsoft itself killing almost 100,000 apps from the Windows Store, you could be simply using your smartphone for simple things like email, messaging and web browsing.

Reported by WindowsBlogItalia, Microsoft has already pulled down a whopping 100,000 apps from its Windows Store as part of their cleaning process. However, while Microsoft has yet to confirm this figure, it could be a signal to the industry that Microsoft may be showing disinterest in their platform.

“As part of our continuing efforts to improve the Store experience for customers, we’re bringing enforcement of the Windows Store age rating policy to published apps that are not yet rated by using the new Dev Center age rating questionnaire. We’ve identified one of more of your apps as not having a rating based on the questionnaire,” Microsoft told developers in emails sent this summer, reported Softpedia.

A total number of apps available on the Windows Store are presently around 239,000, which was almost 329,000 in September.

Will Windows Phone users suffer a huge problem ahead? Will Microsoft continue to support their phone operating system with apps in future? Well, Microsoft has yet to confirm this.
