A new bug is briefly crashing the iPhones and iPads and it is caused by just typing only four characters.
Apple mobile user interface to crash and reboot if you type “”:: in the search bar of Settings app and App library.
Deccan Chronicle confirms that typing those characters in the search bar of the settings app do crash and if you type “”: and any other character in the search bar of App library will lead to reboot and will take you to the lock screen.
However, this is not a security vulnerability and the bug can be triggered only if the user types those characters.
Apple has not released any statement regarding the bug but it is expected that they will fix this in their future iOS update.
Users are advised to not type those characters in the search bar of the settings app or App library until the next iOS update and always keep your devices updated to date with the latest software.
