Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Delayed Over Trump's Tariffs

Nintendo said it’s sticking to its original launch date of June 5, when the Switch 2 will go on sale for $450 in the US

Nintendo said it’s delaying pre-orders for the new Switch 2 in the US due to concerns over the impact of global import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Pre-orders for the new device in the US won’t start on April 9 as originally planned, a Nintendo spokesperson said Friday, “in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.” The Verge and CNBC earlier reported on the delay.
Nintendo said it’s sticking to its original launch date of June 5, when the Switch 2 will go on sale for $450 in the US. The company doesn’t yet have a new date for opening pre-orders.
Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 earlier this week, on the same day Trump announced global tariffs, including 24% levies on Japan and 46% on Vietnam, where the company has been increasingly shifting more production.
Nintendo’s US-traded shares were down 5.4% mid-afternoon in New York.
