OpenAI Reportedly Working on X-Like Social Media Platform

The Verge report stated that the project is in its early stages, with an internal prototype featuring a social feed centered around ChatGPT’s image-generation capabilities

OpenAI is reportedly developing its own social media network similar to Elon Musk’s X, according to The Verge, which cited multiple sources.

The report stated that the project is in its early stages, with an internal prototype featuring a social feed centered around ChatGPT’s image-generation capabilities.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has reportedly been seeking feedback privately from outsiders on the project, though it remains unclear whether the social media platform will launch as a standalone app or be integrated into ChatGPT.
The launch of such a platform could further intensify the rivalry between Altman and Musk. In February, Musk offered to purchase OpenAI for $97.4 billion, to which Altman responded: “No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want.”
The move would also position OpenAI in competition with Meta, which is planning to add a social feed to its upcoming AI assistant app. When reports emerged of Meta’s plans to launch a ChatGPT rival, Altman responded, “Ok fine, maybe we’ll do a social app.”
This app will reportedly give OpenAI its own data like Elon Musk’s X and Meta already has. OpenAI reportedly wants to use AI to help people share better content, the report stated.
While it is still unknown whether OpenAI will ultimately release the social media app, its development signals the company’s broader expansion ambitions amid growing expectations for its future growth.
