OpenAI Unveils its Latest AI Model GPT-4.5 With Greater 'EQ'.
OpenAI has unveiled its latest AI model, GPT-4.5, as a research preview for ChatGPT Pro users and developers worldwide.
The GPT-4.5 will roll out to Plus and Teams users next week and then to Enterprise and Edu users the following week, said OpenAI.
The AI model has a broader knowledge, deeper understanding of the world, more reliability across a wide range of topics, and a lower rate of “hallucinations”.
“Early testing shows that interacting with GPT‑4.5 feels more natural. Its broader knowledge base, improved ability to follow user intent, and greater “EQ” make it useful for tasks like improving writing, programming, and solving practical problems. We also expect it to hallucinate less,” said the company.
GPT‑4.5 comes with the ability to recognize patterns, draw connections, and generate creative insights without reasoning, said OpenAI. However, the ChatGPT maker said that “models like o1 and o3‑mini advance this paradigm.”
The company said that the AI model was trained with “new techniques for supervision that are combined with traditional supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) methods like those used for GPT‑4o.”
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called it a “giant and expensive model” and said it “won’t crush benchmarks.” He also said that the company ran out of GPUs to roll out to Plus and Pro tiers at the same time.
“We will add tens of thousands of GPUs next week and roll it out to the plus tier then. This isn’t how we want to operate, but it’s hard to perfectly predict growth surges that lead to GPU shortages,” Altman said in a post on X.
