WhatsApp Will Stop Working on These Android Devices Starting January 1, 2025

Meta-owned WhatsApp will stop working on several Android phones, starting from January 1, 2025.

According to HDBlog, Meta will stop access to WhatsApp for those devices running Android KitKat. The message app is getting updated with new AI features, making it harder for the hardware of the older phones.

Above 20 models will not be able to access WhatsApp. From January 1, they have to look for other alternative apps.

These are the lists of Android devices:

Samsung: Galaxy S3 , Galaxy Note 2 , Galaxy Ace 3 , Galaxy S4 Mini

Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen) , Razr HD , Moto E 2014

HTC: One X , One X+ , Desire 500 , Desire 601

LG: Optimus G , Nexus 4 , G2 Mini , L90

Sony: Xperia Z , Xperia SP , Xperia T , Xperia V

Before losing access to the messaging app, the users are advised to make a backup of their chats so that they can find old conversations on their new smartphone.

To back up their chats, they have to go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup and perform a backup.
