Food Safety Raids Reveal Many Violations at Nizam Club and FMC

Hyderabad: The commissioner of food safety's task force teams conducted inspections at the Fateh Maidan Club (FMC) in Abids and Nizam Club at Saifabad on Tuesday. Several food handling and hygiene violations were found.

FMC did not display a true copy of the FSSAI licence at a prominent location on the premises, while food handlers inside the kitchen were without haircaps, aprons and gloves.

Semi prepared food articles were stored inside the refrigerator uncovered and not labelled properly.

Despite being without insect-proof screens, the windows were kept open. The walls were found greasy and the floor was uneven with broken tiles at few points while dustbins were without proper lids. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and water analysis report for RO water were also not available with the FBO. However, they showed the pest control records to the inspectors.

At the Nizam Club, the inspectors observed that the FBO was running without a valid FSSAI licence. Several hygiene violations were also noticed. Live cockroach infestation was found inside the kitchen. Water seepage was noticed from the ceiling right above the grinding area. Refrigerator doors were broken and the joints rusted. Stored food articles were covered but not labelled. Drains were found clogged, causing water stagnation. Synthetic food colours that were found inside the kitchen were discarded pronto. Cosmetic rose water was found in the store room was reportedly being used in pudding preparation. The inspectors discarded them on the spot and instructed the FBO to only use food grade rose water.

Beetle infestation was also noticed in wheat flour and urad dal inside the store room. A few dustbins were without proper lids. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers, pest control records for the premises and water analysis report for RO water were not available with the FBO.
