Telangana police strong, competent to root out drug menace: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Tuesday reiterated that the Congress government’s goal was to create a drug-free Telangana society.
He made it clear that the government would not spare any one, however influential they might be involved in transport and supply of narcotics. They would be dealt with by iron hand, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest at an event organized in connection with the International Day for prevention of illegal use and transport of narcotics organized under the aegis of Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau on Necklace Road.
“It is the responsibility of all to drive out the drug menace that is destroying the youth from playing a productive role for the future of the nation,” Bhatti said, adding Telangana police system was quite strong, intelligent and capable of apprehending the accused in drug trafficking.
People also should realise that every step taken by police for the betterment of society and extend their cooperation to police, he said. There would be no dearth of funds for prevention of illegal drug trafficking in the State and adequate budgetary allocation would be made.
Bhatti called upon the youth not to fall prey to the sinister plans of anti-social elements, which lure youth to consume drugs and to earn money through illegal means. Youth should develop to compete with the world and the government was giving top priority for education. The government was utilising every rupee of tax revenue and making higher allocation to education for the bright future of youth, he explained.
He said the youth should not forget that not only their parents but the entire society would suffer if youth got addicted to vices. Youth should keep good company and plan their future productively, he advised.
“Drugs are like poison destroying the peace and happiness in family life. Institution of family system is the strength of Indian society but this drug addiction has become a threat to such strength. Illegal drug transport is a conspiracy hatched by anti national elements to weaken our human resources”, he observed.
If police strengthen their information network by constituting anti drug committees in all villages, it is not too difficult to control drug menace, he said.
