Telangana: SFI Activists Climb Gate of Intermediate Board

Hyderabad: Student Federation of India (SFI) activists attempted to storm the office of the Board of Intermediate here on Friday, demanding an end to exorbitant fees charged by corporate educational institutions.

Speaking about the rampant fee exploitation by institutions like Sri Chaitanya, Narayana, and Resonance, SFI state secretary T. Nagaraju said these colleges operated hostels and colleges on the same campus.

“In areas like Hyderabad's Madhapur and Ayyappa Society, numerous apartments have been taken on lease, and admissions are being closed without permission, resulting in a fee racket. Despite the initiation of classes without necessary permissions, officials have not taken any action, particularly in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal districts,” said Nagaraju.

The SFI demanded immediate government action to end the fee exploitation, enforce fee regulations, and address the management of colleges and hostels operating on the same campus. They also called for the filling of 1,684 vacant lecturer posts in government junior colleges, the distribution of free textbooks and uniforms, and the provision of basic amenities as promised by the government.

A delegation submitted a memorandum to education commissioner Shruti Ojha, who assured them that a committee would be set up to address the malpractices of corporate colleges and sought detailed information.
