In a major twist of sorts, the makers have decided to turn Kokila Modi’s track negative in Star Plus’ flagship show Saath Nibhana Sathiya. Gopi’s lovable mother-in-law will now be seen making life difficult for her. Right from the start, Kokila’s character has been a fully positive one. By turning negative all of a sudden, the actress is looking forward to see how the audience reacts to the change.
Commenting on the development, Rupal said, “We actors rarely get an opportunity to step out of our characters that are etched permanently in people’s minds. I am so glad the channel gave me this chance. After playing a positive role for so many years, turning negative will be a refreshing change for me as well as the audience. They will, of course, be taken aback but I’m confident that they will readily accept the change”.
The track will give a completely new dimension to the on-screen equation between Kokila and her bahu Gopi. The inseparable duo will now be seen locking horns.
“Kokila has always been Gopi’s support system. The whole idea of the saviour becoming the oppressor excites me. It will be quite an adventure and I am game to bring my evil side to the fore.”
So does that mean Gopi’s troubles won’t be ending anytime soon? “It’s too early to say. We are just experimenting with the track. The audience’s reaction will decide how long Kokila will make Gopi cry,” says Rupal with a wide grin.
