Tight security at temples for Vaikunta Ekadasi in Nizamabad, Kamareddy
Nizamabad: Vaikunta Ekadasi was celebrated with great fervour in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Friday, as thousands of devotees flocked to temples for the darshan of Lord Sri Venkateshwara. In light of the recent stampede in Tirupati that claimed six lives, temples in these districts implemented stringent safety measures for the celebrations.
Devotees began arriving at temples early in the morning to take the special darshan through the Uttara Dwaram (north door). Major temples, including Uttara Tirupati, Janda Balaji Mandir, Sri Venkateswara Temple at Aryanagar, and Subhashnagar Ramalayam in Nizamabad, saw huge crowds. Similarly, Telangana Tirumala Temple in Narsingpally, Apuroopa Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Adavi Mamidipally, and Telangana Tirumala Temple at Timmapur in Kamareddy experienced heavy footfall.
Temple authorities, in coordination with police and volunteers, ensured tight security and efficient crowd management. Barricades and iron grills were installed to manage vehicle parking, queue lines, and dining areas. Officials closely monitored the crowds to avoid inconvenience, while traffic on National Highway 63 between Nizamabad and Jagdalpur was regulated by the police.
Elderly persons, mothers with infants, women, and children were able to complete their darshan comfortably. At Uttara Tirupati in Gangasthan, devotees were served breakfast, lunch, dinner, and prasadam, while uniformed volunteers managed crowds at the darshan areas and food venues.
