Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad after a week of dry weather
After a week of scorching temperatures, Hyderabad witnessed heavy rainfall on Friday, accompanied by thunder and lightning, from around 9.15 pm.
The sudden downpour inundated several parts of the city, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), the highest recorded rainfall in GHMC limits was 36.8 mm at Chilkanagar in Uppal, followed by 21.8 mm at Nacharam and 20 mm at Bandlaguda.
Overall, 20 locations within the GHMC boundaries reported rainfall ranging from 10 mm to 36.8 mm, with all regions recording light to moderate showers.
Heavy rainfall, especially in areas like Ramantapur, Uppal, Nagole, Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, and several others, led to waterlogging on roads. Commuters faced difficulties navigating through water-filled streets, and the sudden showers caused power outages in multiple localities.
