Avani Lekhara Wins Second Consecutive Paralympic Gold Medals
Avani wins gold in women’s 10m air rifle (SH1) event.
Shot 249.7, breaking her own record of 249.6 set in Tokyo 2021.
Won her first Paralympic gold in Tokyo 2021 at 19 years old.
Paralysed below the waist after a car accident at age 11.
Encouraged by her father, she switched from archery to shooting.
Started shooting in 2015, inspired by Olympic champ Abhinav Bindra.
In addition to a gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1, she also won a bronze in the 50m rifle 3 positions.
