American health content creator makes unique marriage proposal using GPS technology

According to his post, "When I proposed, my idea was simple: A road trip across the country, that ultimately spelled out WILL YOU MARRY ME," wrote Hentschel. He also mentioned that the challenge was keeping the GPS art plan a secret till the end of the trans-American trek. Throughout the trip, his ex-girlfriend thought they were just going on a really long road trip

An American couple made a cross-country road trip to make a GPS drawing spelling out the words "Will you marry me", on a map of the US but the same journey ended up being the reason for their separation.

Later, Dan Hentschel, a resident of Los Angeles, California, announced his breakup on X. He also explained how he executed the marriage proposal.

According to his post, "When I proposed, my idea was simple: A road trip across the country, that ultimately spelled out WILL YOU MARRY ME," wrote Hentschel, a mental health content creator.

He also mentioned that the challenge was keeping the GPS art plan a secret till the end of the trans-American trek. Throughout the trip, his ex-girlfriend thought they were just going on a really long road trip.

The trip started from Pacific Coast, and then they travelled through the US Interstate Highways, and ended at the Atlantic Coast.

Hentschel also mentioned that on multiple occasion, he used "trickery", like pretending to have forgotten his wallet, to execute the message's design.

An online view of the final route of his trip shows some gaps in the trail highlighted in green, indicating that the stretches where his GPS was off.

Hentschel always dreamt of making the proposal during a road trip in the US but in the end, all his efforts to drive from coast to coast failed to bear the desired fruit.

"The trip ended up having an even more important function. It showed us that, ultimately, we weren't a good fit for each other," Hentschel said.

He did not reveal the specific reason behind their break-up prompting the netizens to float various theories.

One of the netizens commented: "I feel like any relationship would fall apart on such an absurd trip. That's like, weeks of driving, isn't it? And the constant excuses to backtrack would drive anyone insane."

It may be recalled that a Japanese artist Yasushi Takahashi, aka Yassan, also made such an attempt last year in Japan.

"Japanese artist Yasushi Takahashi – a.k.a Yassan - left his job to travel through Japan, covering more than 4,349 miles (7,000 kilometres) in six months, mostly on foot and sometimes by car, ferry or bicycle. He proposed to his girlfriend using Google Earth and a GPS device. The GPS technology tracked his every step as he journeyed from Hokkaido island to Hyodo Cliff on Kyushu island where the trek ended."

Inspired by the large-scale GPS art, Takashashi plan was to spell "Marry Me" with a heart and arrow across all of Japan.

It is learnt that Takahashi even quit his job to make the proposal to his love.

He carefully decided to stay away from his beloved for six months sot that he could make his proposal unique. He started on the island of Hokkaido in Japan and ended at Kagoshima, south of Japan. For this journey, he has been hailed as a man with the greatest planned proposal.
