Boeing plane makes emergency landing in Rome after engine fire

A packed Boeing 787 was forced to turn back after its engine caught fire shortly after taking off from Italy. The Hainan Airlines flight, headed to Shenzhen, made an emergency landing at Rome's Fiumicino Airport on Sunday with 249 passengers and 16 crew onboard.

The Italian Coast Guard reported that a bird strike likely caused the right engine to catch fire. Despite the incident, the plane safely returned after dumping fuel over the sea. Fiumicino Airport reported no delays. This comes days after another Boeing incident, where passengers evacuated due to an engine fire on the tarmac, injuring four.
