Children Correct Jill Biden at White House Christmas Event

First Lady Jill Biden found herself humorously corrected by children during the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign at the White House on Friday. As she greeted attendees with “Happy Holidays,” several children enthusiastically responded, “Happy Christmas!” The playful exchange sparked laughter and quickly went viral online.

The event, which hosted children of military service members, featured Jill Biden welcoming the audience with warm remarks. “Hello! How are you? Hi! Happy Holidays,” she said, only for the children to shout back with emphasis, “Happy Christmas!” Amused, the First Lady laughed and replied, “Happy Christmas, yes.”

The lighthearted moment was captured on video and shared widely on social media, drawing a mix of reactions. Conservative commentators celebrated the children’s response. Riley Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer, shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Even kids get it,” alongside a laughing emoji. Conservative communicator Steve Guest called the children’s reply an “epic response” to what he termed “Jill Biden's war on Christmas.” Another user humorously wrote, “Jill Biden fact-checked by a toddler,” while show host David J. Harris Jr. remarked, “THERE IS HOPE FOR THE FUTURE!”

During her remarks at the event, Jill Biden emphasized the importance of love during the holiday season. “If you only remember one thing from the holidays, let it be this: You are loved,” she told the children. She encouraged them to share their love with others who might need it, adding, “There are so many people who care about you — from your family and friends, to your teachers and classmates, to the President and me.” She concluded her address with, “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.”

The charming exchange highlighted the joyous spirit of the event while providing a viral moment of holiday cheer.
