11-year-old is youngest British mother
An 11-year-old girl is set to become Britain’s youngest mother. The child, who cannot be identified as she is a minor, is expected to give birth in the near future.
The father is reportedly only a few years older than the mother. Very few details about the pregnancy was made public for legal reasons, the Daily Mail reported.
Britain’s current youngest mum gave birth in 2014 when she was 12 and the father was 13. Tressa Middleton was 12 when she gave birth in 2006 after she was raped by her brother. Recently she has said she was expecting a second child, according to reports.
Sean Stewart became Britain’s youngest-known father at age 12 in 1998. According to official figures, the number of teenagers giving birth is at its lowest level in almost 70 years. Last year, 25,977 women aged 19 and under had babies in England and Wales – about the same levels last recorded in 1946, data showed.
