Huge Transformation: World's Heaviest Man Khalid Shaari's Journey From 610kg to 63kg

Hyderabad: Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari, once known as the World's heaviest man alive, has undergone a life-changing transformation in the last 10 years with the help of Abdullah, Saudi Arabia's former King. Khalid who once had the unbelievable weight of 610 kg, has now shed a staggering 542 kg.

Among the medical staff, he is lovingly referred to as "the smiling man" because of his unwavering positivity. His support team helped him pull off this seemingly unachievable task.
When King Abdullah got to know about Shaari's plight in 2013, he was profoundly affected by his dire condition. He carried out an unprecedented operation to save Shaari's life.
During that time, Shaari was in his teen years and was bedridden for three years. He was dependent on his parents and friends, for even basic needs and also he was on the brink of losing his life because of his severe weight, which had left him immobilized.
Shaari's care was entrusted to a group of 30 medical experts, and arrangements were made for his transfer from his residence in Jazan, in the southern region of Saudi Arabia, to King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh. Shaari had to be moved using a forklift and a specially-made bed for this procedure.
He underwent a lot of medical treatment in Riyadh, including gastric bypass surgery and a carefully planned diet and exercise program. Shaari shed over half of his body weight in just six months. His medical team's intensive care and physiotherapy were also credited for his progress.
Shaari's mobility was improved with the construction of a large, specially designed wheelchair, which enabled him to take part in physical therapy. But despite all of these improvements, Shaari still required mechanical help to sit up. Shaari, 33, had dropped to a weight of just 63.5 kg by the previous year. Even while this transformation is nothing short of amazing, it required several operations to remove extra skin, which was a crucial step to guarantee his long-term health and well-being.
Mohsen Shaari is shown smiling and giving a victory sign in pictures released following the operation, showing that he is in good spirits despite the difficult recovery process.
