Massive Russian missile attack forces Ukraine to introduce power cuts
Russia launched a massive aerial attack on Ukraine on Wednesday, prompting the country to implement preventive power cuts, according to Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. "The enemy continues to terrorize Ukrainians," Halushchenko wrote on Facebook, urging residents to stay in shelters and follow official updates.
The state energy company Ukrenergo reported emergency power outages in several regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad.
Russian forces targeted energy infrastructure in the western Lviv region with missile strikes early Wednesday, confirmed the city's mayor, Andrii Sadovyi. "Enemy cruise missiles were recorded in the region during the morning attack," he stated. Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported.
Ukraine’s air force detected multiple missile groups launched by Russia, triggering a nationwide air-raid alert, though initial reports indicated no significant damage.
Wednesday's attack has intensified the strain on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has been a frequent target during the ongoing conflict.
