Pakistan Senate passes bill to make Quran teaching mandatory

The Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran Bill, 2017' provides for making compulsory teaching of the Quran to Muslim students.

Islamabad: Pakistan Senate on Friday passed a bill on compulsory Quran (Muslims’ holy book) teaching in the educational institutions.

‘The Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran Bill, 2017’ provides for making compulsory teaching of the Quran to Muslim students in all educational institutions.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed presented the bill.

He also moved a second bill ‘The National School of Public Policy (Amendment) Bill, 2017’ that provides to amend the National School of Public Policy Ordinance 2002.

The second bill was also passed.
