Pak Army Chief Likely to Visit Tehran Amid Iran-US Talks

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Pakistan has continued to mediate exchanges of messages between Tehran and Washington

Tehran: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is likely to travel to Tehran on Thursday as negotiations for peace talks continue, according to Iranian news agency ISNA.

The agency reported that Munir’s visit is part of ongoing talks and consultations with Iranian officials amid mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsen Naqvi arrived in Tehran for the second time this week and held discussions with Iran’s Interior Minister and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to ISNA, President Pezeshkian discussed the latest regional developments, the status of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, and the process of diplomatic consultations during his meeting with Naqvi.

The diplomatic activity comes as US President Donald Trump continues to pressure Iran to commit to a peace agreement amid rapidly evolving developments in West Asia.

Iranian state-run agency Nour News quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei on Thursday as saying, “We have received US views and are reviewing them.”

Tehran said the proposal from the American side had been delivered through Pakistani mediators.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Pakistan has continued to mediate exchanges of messages between Tehran and Washington, with several rounds of communication taking place based on Iran’s original 14-point framework.

The latest diplomatic engagement follows a stern warning from US President Trump, who urged Iran to show willingness to finalize a deal.

“It’s right on the borderline, believe me. If we don't get the right answers, it goes very quickly. We're all ready to go. We have to get the right answers -- it would have to be a complete 100% good answers,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews.

Meanwhile, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller issued another sharp warning to Tehran.

“Iran has a choice to make: they can either agree to a piece of paper that is satisfactory to the United States, or they can face a punishment from our military the likes of which has not been seen in modern history,” Miller told Fox News.

The situation in West Asia remains tense as multiple stakeholders continue efforts to secure a deal aimed at preventing renewed conflict in the region.
