Southwest airlines plane hit by bullet in Dallas airport

A Southwest Airlines plane was struck by a bullet while preparing for takeoff at Dallas Love Field Airport on Friday evening. According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 10 pm. A Southwest Airlines spokesperson confirmed that Flight 2494, bound for Indianapolis, was taxiing when a bullet hit the right side of the aircraft just below the flight deck. The plane safely returned to the terminal, and passengers were deplaned without injury.

The damage was assessed, and the plane was removed from service. Southwest Airlines assured passengers that they would be accommodated on another flight. Authorities, including law enforcement and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), have been notified, and the police investigation into the incident is ongoing.

This incident follows a similar event earlier in the week when a Spirit Airlines flight was struck by gunfire while landing in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. That flight was diverted to Santiago, Dominican Republic, where it landed safely.
