21 Arrested in Texas for Prostitution, Including 7 Indians

Twenty one people including seven Indian nationals were arrested on charges of solicitation of prostitution and other crimes in a two-day operation conducted by Denton County Sheriff's office, Texas in collaboration with the Highland village police department.

Out of the seven Indian nationals, five are found to be of Telugu origin.
The crackdown named 'Prostitution Demand Suppression Operation' was carried out on August 14 and 15 to curb the menace of prostitution in the community.
Out of the 21 arrested, fourteen were charged with solicitation of prostitution, a state felony. While two were arrested on charges of solicitation of prostitution under 18, a 2nd degree felony.
In addition, 2 persons were charged with unlawfully carrying weapons and three others were arrested for evading arrest detention.
Some key leads relating to other persons engaging in prostitution were also developed and are being followed by the Human Trafficking Unit of Denton County Sheriff's office, said a press release.
