UK criminology student kills woman for thrill of taking a life
A criminology student from the UK, Nasen Saadi, 20, has been accused of murdering 34-year-old Amie Gray and injuring 38-year-old Leanne Miles in a brutal knife attack on Durley Chine Beach in Bournemouth. Prosecutors allege that Saadi’s motive was driven by a chilling desire to "know what it would be like to take a life."
The attack took place in May 2023 when the two women were sitting on the beach, enjoying a fire and chatting under the full moon. Saadi, who had been planning the attack for weeks, approached the women before launching a knife assault. Gray tragically died from her injuries, while Miles suffered serious wounds.
In the lead-up to the attack, Saadi had researched beaches across southern England, eventually choosing Bournemouth as the site for his violent act. "He seems to have wanted to know what it would be like to take life," said prosecutor Sarah Jones KC at Winchester Crown Court. "Perhaps he wanted to make women feel afraid or believed it would make him feel powerful and interesting."
Saadi is said to have stalked the promenade before carrying out the unprovoked attack. His actions have left the public horrified, raising concerns about the motives behind such premeditated violence. Saadi faces multiple charges, and the trial is ongoing as investigators probe his disturbing motivations.
