As a reminder of our ever-changing social media whims, Facebook recently announced that there has been a decrease in daily usage by teens, who are now more into chat apps like Whatsapp, Wechat, BBM, Line, Viber etc. Social media users in the city too say that Facebook is no longer “the" thing. Hannan Saleem, who is an active Instagrammer and Whatsapp user, says, “If you are a photo person, you will love Instagram. There are a select group of friends who can view your pictures. Whatsapp and Wechat have this voice note service that is really nice. You can just leave a voice note for your friends instead of typing."

Apps like Whatsapp, Wechat also win over Facebook because of the fewer details they give out.

Gabriella Stevens says, “Facebook is so detailed. Without being on your friends' list, people can know what you do on Facebook!"

A popular reason given for the drift is the influx of the elderly onto Facebook, your social privacy is at risk. Adish Rai, a working professional says, “Whatsapp and BBM is faster. So many people are on Facebook; it's just for updates now. I change my privacy settings when I don't want someone to see everything on my profile," he adds.
