All for an active votergate!

Raising voices for a cause, millions protesting on the streets and a multitude of youngsters shouting slogans for change but, do they all put their right foot forward when it comes to elections and voting?

Young Bengalureans promise to engage and make a difference in the coming elections scheduled for June-July 2014, by gearing up to show their support for their favourite political heroes. We had a voting movement in our college where a campaign was created and class representatives were asked to encourage their classmates to get voting cards. It was successful as students got information on how to apply for election cards and on their voting rights," says Derin Sara, president at Mount Carmel College, adding, “It takes almost three to four months to procure an election card but, bringing the procedure to college makes it easier."

City-based racer Mezaan Anees, says that it lies in the hand of family members to encourage youngsters to secure voting rights. Recalling his first voting experience, “Initially, I did not have much knowledge and it was more about the joy of taking up a responsible decision that mattered to me"

But Kunwar Prithvi, a young entrepreneur begs to differ and says youngsters are now capable of choosing the right leaders.
“There are many avenues like rallies and news channels that help youth identify the right choices. I think they are responsible enough to make the right decision," says Kunwar.

Sundar Ram, entrepreneur is attempting at setting up simpler ways of applying for voting cards.

He says, “My friends are excited about first time voting and need voting cards. So we are helping them to get procure one without the red tape involved."
