Genelia D’Souza: I deserved this break
Genelia reveals that she is all set to make a comeback
The girl-next-door, who shot to fame with her Bollywood debut 'Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na', might have been missing in action for a while now. But there is good news for her fans. Genelia D’Souza insists that she is all set to be back with a bang. She adds that after the much-deserved break post her marriage with Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh she is now waiting for 'Rock The Shaadi' to go on floors.
“In my more than 10 years long career I have been a part of Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries. I believe I deserved a break. But now I will be signing new projects very soon,” she says.
Talking about 'Rock The Shaadi' she continues, “This is a zombie comedy film in which I will be seen opposite Abhay Deol. It is a very exciting project where I am playing a Punjabi girl. The film has been shelved a few times. I am not sure what happened, I believe producers will have a better idea but I am eager to start shooting.”
The actress recently finished shooting for Salman Khan’s upcoming film 'Jai Ho', which is being directed by Sallu’s brother Sohail Khan. She plays Salman’s sister in the film.
While the actress decided to keep mum on this project, she reveals that TV is an option she doesn’t mind exploring.
“Many Bollywood actors are making their foray into TV and I would like to explore this medium. TV is bigger than ever before and I am open to all medium of entertainment as long as it is something that I am comfortable with.”
Looking pretty in a pink short dress, designed by Abdul Halder, she reveals that she has no beauty secrets. Genelia insists that there is nothing like drinking a lot of water and eating healthy food. Though when it comes to hair, Genelia says that she is very experimental.
“From short hair to long locks. I have tried almost all kinds of looks so far. I like experimenting with my hair. Even a slight change in haircut can give you a fresh look,” says Genelia, who this time had her straight mid-length hair tied back in a ponytail. She was in Mumbai for the launch of Naturals beauty salon’s 300th store in India.
Talking about her association with the brand, Genelia says she is proud of the fact that most of her endorsements have lasted more than three years.
Genelia believes that in today’s time it is essential for women to be independent. “There is no better way to empower women than education and employment. We should really work on giving employment to women,” says Genelia.
