Model Karan Rao will soon be turning actor, though he admits it after much coaxing! The next few months are going to be extremely hectic for him, with the release of two films — 'Savari 2' in which he plays one of the leads, while the other is his own production house, Gold Chase Motion Picture’s maiden project, Station.

Karan was apprehensive about signing this film. Had Jacob, the director not convinced him, Karan would have probably never acted. He will be replacing Raghu Mukerji in the sequel to 'Savari'. Jacob reveals, “Acting really doesn’t require much creativity. You just do what you are told. That is why I prefer directing, because you call the shots. It is your movie, your baby,” he expresses.

Karan describes 'Savari 2' as a potpourri of emotions. “It has romance, comedy, action, drama and even a little thrill too,” he promises. The shoot will begin this month and it will also star Girish Karnad and Srinagar Kitty. Apparently,  Karan’s love interest in the film might be portrayed by Sruthi Hariharan of Lucia fame.

Though Karan is a little skeptical about doing another film, production and direction is something that has always fascinated him. He did his bachelors in mass communication from Christ College and his masters in films and television production from the University of Bristol in the UK. “Station is almost ready and will release next month. It is an independent (self funded) Hindi film that features talented upcoming artistes from the city. It is a thriller,” states Karan who is evidently quite excited about his first very own feature film.

The self-confessed movie buff and foodie says that at 30, the focus is now only on his career and everything else will take a backseat.

Now with a statement like that, we couldn’t help but ask him about ‘love’. “There are no plans (to marry) as of now. Smitha and I have been together a long time, through thick and thin,” he says with a pause and then adds, “Actually, you never know. One day I might just wake up and decide to get married the same day,” he smiles.
