Charmi's special role

The first look of 'Pratighatana', featuring Charmi in the role of a journalist, was released on Friday evening. Directed by Thammareddy Bharadwaj, the film deals with the atrocities committed against women. Inspired by a true incident that took place in Odisha a few years ago, the director has focused on recent incidents involving women. “This film is my response to these incidents," he adds. T. Krishna directed a film with the same title nearly 24 years ago. “It was a blockbuster and it focused on women's problems, just like my film," says Thammareddy.

According to a source, the film is filled with satire on the present political situation in Andhra Pradesh. Lead actress Charmi points out that she plays a powerful character. “This will be one of the most special films of my career. I'm happy that I've played a role that sends out a message to society," adds the actress.
