'Bhajarangi' Movie Review: Black magic whoa man!
Choreographer-turned-director A Harsha has finally hit a golden patch
Movie: Bhajarangi
Cast: Shivarajkumar and Aindrita Ray
Director: A Harsha
After a series of experimental movies hitting the screens, 'Bhajarangi' comes as a fantasy thriller, set in a bygone era with the all-time favourite “good over evil" storyline. Choreographer-turned-director A Harsha has finally hit a golden patch after his disastrous films - 'Geleya' and 'Chingari'.
With so much hype around the film, including Sandalwood King Shivarajkumar working out on a commendable six-pack, Bhajarangi is already breaking most records. It is undoubtedly a major boost for Shivarajkumar, who is back “big time" after his last releases failed to create an impact at the box office.
Though the movie runs along a similar storyline as the recent hit 'Jayammana Maga' starring Duniya Vijay, which is also a thriller with “black magic" as a focal point, 'Bhajarangi' outsmarts 'Jayammana Maga' with a bigger starcast and extravagant movie making which included well picturised song and dance sequences. Danseuse Rukmini Vijayakumar, is another value addition in the movie as the audience enjoyed her performance which she herself has choreographed to near perfection. One must say that she has done a good job.
The added element of local talent with theatrical skill from Loki, who was roped in the role of a villain has also helped the film. As far as the storyline is concerned, Shivarajkumar plays the role of a regular urban man going though a constant phase of bad luck until the movie is drawn back to the past where many years ago, black magicians had cast a spell of doom.
Now, the grandson of Bhajarangi returns to his roots and fights the baddies. A must-watch for Shivarajkumar fans and all those who'd love to escape reality, at least for few hours. Arjun Janya's music is another treat in the movie.
