Shilpa Shetty Kundra created quite a frenzy as she stopped by in Bengaluru on Saturday. The leggy lass from Mangalore looked svelte in her toned avatar, as she breezed in, in a bright orange saree, to launch PC Jeweller’s new store. Not sparing much time for the thousands of fans that gathered around to get a glimpse, she rushed past the launch formalities, to take her flight back the same evening.

“I haven’t taken a single day off without my son, Viaan. He’s 19 months old now. I’m a hands-on mom and invite his friends home. Once every week on Tuesdays, I have to be at the Nach Baliye shoot for 12 hours, so I make up for the time, by being with him for the rest of the week,” gleams a happy mom.

Only three years since her marriage to businessman, Raj Kundra, Shilpa has had an eventful phase and the couple has managed to keep the romance in full bloom, despite a few odds that fell their way. Explaining how the duo keeps the spark alive, she reveals, “We have always stood by each other and encourage each other at every step. We have been brought up like that and we don’t know any other way. We’re more friends than anything else. Of course, after Viaan, we have taken second place but nothing else has changed. We are also business partners. I had invested in a real estate venture, S2 perfume and also have Iosis medi spa. We have just got into an ambitious project with YAP, yoga and physiotherapy, where we have got machines that help in fast recovery and have tied up with Vandana Luthra. I’m a Shetty and business is in our blood, but I didn’t know how to take risks. Raj has given me confidence. I have a few acting offers, but that takes a lot of time and dedication and right now I cannot be committed for long hours.”

And what are her year ender holiday plans, we prod and she admits, “Every year in December we used to go to London, but this year, my mom and in-laws are coming home to help with Viaan. I have to go to Dubai for the finale shoot of Nach Baliye, so Raj will accompany me.” Talking about her Bengaluru connection, she recalls, “A lot of my summer holidays were spent here, with my dad’s family, Pratibha aunty and Shekhar uncle. I remember going to the Koramangala Club and my best friend Vandana also lives here. Also later, I shot three Kannada films here.” Before we let her go, we had to complement her on her frame that’s sculpted to perfection and she replies with her signature giggle, “I do a lot of cardio, cross training, yoga and eat a high protein diet, but I binge once a week. I had some gajar ka halwa today.”
