Social networking has changed marketing dynamics over the years, but some stick to the age old idea of sales. Every weekend the creative geniuses of the city, come together to showcase their collections either in Soul Sante’s, Green bazaars, TGIS(Thank God It’s Sunday) and more. These markets have opened avenues for corporate employees, students, local businesses to flourish and have also altered the way we shop!

There is so much going on as you enter that you do not even want to bat an eyelid. There are youngsters checking out a pair of quirky wine bottles turned into bottle lights, loud music playing while barbeque meat is served to hungry customers. This is a typical scene in any of the carnivals that happen over the weekend in the city.

These carnivals are a hotchpotch of collections that sell an assortment of goodies. Arzoo Nagraik, a student who is hosting a  stall today at MG Boulevard says, “I am still a student and I am trying to set up my own brand but I was wondering where to start. I wanted to have an exposure towards buying trends and these exhibitions help me in understanding that and also network with people.” This is one of the primary reasons that such shows are gaining popularity among

Bengalureans. Speaking to Soumya Sharma, who had a stall at Sunday Soul Sante says, “It gives a first hand experience and real-time contact with customers. We have a Facebook page which is not fully functional and that is only to show our collections to hoteliers when they enquire about our products. Otherwise, it is only in these exhibitions that we are able to meet possible customers.”

Most of them run such businesses since they are passionate about it and not the profit angle. So, these carnivals are a stress buster for them and help them look forward to such events. Manika Banswal who makes Beeswax candles effuses, “Instead of going ahead and creating a page which will push me to keep producing more than my limit I prefer flea markets which helps me have a bit of fun. There is also the question of a larger footfall that comes to shop than the networking pages where people just keep browsing.” Visit them to check out exciting products that are making the rounds.
