Standing tall in one of the bylanes of West Marredpally is the four-storeyed building, Om Lasira. While the first two floors have been rented out, the other two make up the duplex home of Lakshman Vuppala, his wife Seetha and daughter, Ratna. Lakshman, who manufactures engineering products, and Seetha had just one wish, to have a spacious home. And the 3,600 sft. duplex is their dream come true.

The living room is proof of the space that the family had always wanted. It has been designed for parties, which the family frequently hosts. “We have a lot of friends and family members coming over and we wanted to have enough space so that at no point does it feel congested,” says Seetha. Adding to the same, the interior designer, Raaj Sree Ram says, “Since one of their requirements was to accommodate a lot of guests at any time, the house has been designed in a way that ensures free movement while also providing a lot of free space.”

A small partition, where the family plans to get a painting done, separates the living area from the dining space. A little corner acts as their breakfast area as well as a bar counter. On the other end is a guest bedroom. The upper floor houses two bedrooms. And what is impressive is the generous amount of space dedicated to each.

While the spacious master bedroom has high ceilings and a huge walk-in wardrobe, Ratna’s area opens with her own private seating space, which leads to her room that she has designed herself. “I was quite clear about what I wanted. A low bed on a slightly raised platform along with separate study and wardrobe areas were my essential requirements,” says Ratna, who has also done all the paintings that hang around the house.
