Singer turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham is reportedly set to become a charity ambassador for UNAIDS. The former Spice Girl will be apparently working alongside the United Nations to act as a goodwill representative for the UNAIDS campaign, reported Daily Star.
The 39 year old fashion designer, who turns 40 next week, was compelled to take this step following a recent trip to South Africa. While visiting Cape Town, Victoria was made aware of the astonishingly high numbers of people living with HIV/AIDS. In association with UNAIDS, the former pop star hopes to raise awareness of the disease which can be transmitted from mothers to their children.
Friends of the designer said that she wants to give back to society by doing what she can. Victoria is also a patron of the Elton John AIDS foundation.
