Hodgkin’s greatest achievements include confirming the structure of Penicillin

London: Google doodle on Monday marked the 104th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Prize winner Dorothy Hodgkin.

Hodgkin was born on May 12, 1910 in Cairo, Egypt. She went on to study at both the University of Oxford and Cambridge before embarking on her remarkable career as a scientist.

The Nobel Prize-winner's greatest achievements include confirming the structure of Penicillin and the structure of Insulin.

Hodgkin also deciphered the structure of Vitamin B12 - for which she received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She remains the only British woman to have ever won one of the Science Nobels, which she was awarded in 1964.

At the age of 84, Hodgkin died on March 29, 1994.
