‘Shooting in Hyderabad was fantastic’, says Actress Vidya Balan
From “shopping for kurtas” to visiting places in Hyderabad, Vidya loved the city
Hyderabad: After Dirty Picture and Kahaani, audiences by now expect the unexpected from Vidya Balan. And she will not disappoint in her upcoming ‘dramedy’ (drama plus comedy) Bobby Jasoos.
Promos of the film with snapshots of Vidya in different disguises are already a hit. “I have donned a huge number of male disguises for the film,” says Vidya adding, “Men say that beards irritate them but I enjoyed wearing beards. It was indeed a thrilling experience to disguise myself as a number of men, as it gave me a different hig. Often the production guys and actors around could not recognise me at first (winks). As a kid too, I would love to do a bit of jasoosi.”
On comparisons with the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Jagga Jasoos, Vidya says, “I am destined to fight my BO existence with the Khans and now it will be with the Kapoors. However, these comparisons are worthless. Each one of us are here to do our jobs.”
Talking about Hyderabad, Vidya says she had a great time shooting for the film in the city and she particularly loved the Falaknuma Palace. “The palace is really a wonderland. I loved to visit it, I enjoyed the ambience there.
“I really loved the food in Hyderabad. Since I am a total vegetarian, I relished the veg dum biryani. Others on the set enjoyed the non-vegetarian biryani.”
She also had a great time shopping in the city. “I love to shop wherever I go. I bought some lovely designer cotton kurtas,” she says.
“Bobby Jasoos is not just a detective-thriller. It is a ‘dramedy’. It is a story of a small town girl. There is no comparison with Kahaani. I opted for the role without delay as I found the character to be very fresh and interesting.”
Apart from Vidya, the film also stars Ali Fazal, Supriya Pathak and Tanvi Azmi. It is set for a July 4 release.
