Ravi K Chandran confirms bollywood movie
The filmmaker expresses his desires to work with the leading actors of B’town
Chennai: Industry circles were abuzz with the news that cinematographer Ravi K Chandran would be making his directorial debut in B’town too with the remake of the French film, Point Blank. Now, it’s straight from the horse’s mouth that the movie will go on the floors this year itself.
Ravi, who is wielding the megaphone for the first time for Yaan, spills the beans, “I found Point Blank to be a fast-paced action thriller, laced with an intriguing plot which can be well moulded to the Indian scenario. The idea of making it in Bollywood struck me and I decided to go forward. Sunir Kheterpal, one of the producers of Billa 2, has purchased the remake rights. I’m yet to zero in on the actors for the movie. The movie will kick off this year itself — once I’m done with Yaan.”
Nevertheless, he expresses his desires to work with the leading actors of B’town with whom he had already worked in the past.
The lensman-turned-filmmaker asserts that the remake wouldn’t be a direct rip off from the original and that the inclusion of Jiiva in the film, as heard through the grapevine, depends on his availability of dates and his interest. Ravi also confirms that the movie will have someone from abroad cranking the camera.
The ‘new’ director is also getting offers from Tollywood and Mollywood to helm some films. On Yaan, he says that two more songs were left to be shot and that the crew was scouting for locales in Europe.
