Mumbai: While the Shehenshah of big screen Amitabh Bachchan is making his presence felt on the small screen with a new television show, the prince of small screen, hunky Siddharth Shukla is carving a niche for himself on the big screen. Tremend-ously popular as the Shivraj Anoop Shekhar or Shiv, Anandi’s husband in Balika Vadhu, he has recently bagged a three-film contract with Karan Johar and is awaiting the release of his first film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. He also participated on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 and besides bagging accolades for his sincere attempt at dance, this hottie managed to impress Karan who is a judge along with Madhuri Dixit Nene and Remo D’Souza to grab a meaty role in his production venture which also stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.

Talking about his new move he says, “I am a bundle of nerves. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I also have a sense of fulfilment as an actor you always want yourself to be seen on the 70 MM screen and when this dream finally comes true, you feel on top of the world.” He informs that Karan spotted him on the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and called him. “Karan Johar calling you was a big thing and the first time he called me, I couldn’t believe it. I must add that he is the most honest and grounded
person I’ve ever met. People in the industry can be all rosy, flowery and exaggerating about certain things but not Karan. What all he had told or narrated to me about my role in the movie, it turned out to be exactly the same. He didn’t make any false promises and was brutally honest. The experience of working with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions had been entirely transparent and what all I had been promised before I signed on has been delivered. I feel extremely blessed to have worked with Karan and his team.”

Giving a sneak peek into his role, the actor quips, “I am playing a good guy in the film and my goodness becomes a problem for Humpty (Varun). My character’s name is Angaad and he is an NRI who has come to India… apart from that I can’t reveal more,” laughs Shukla. “Varun and Alia are such huge stars and star kids but they made me feel like I had been friends with them forever and working with them was wonderful! They were so easy to work with and they had no hang-ups, which was incredible. There was no tantrum on the sets,” he adds. Siddharth admits whatever he is today is because of
television.

So he will never leave TV completely. Giving credit to the channel and producers he says, “I would say it was very kind of Dharma Productions to let me know my dates in advance and accommodate it in such a way that my television show Balika Vadhu didn’t get affected. So the channel was well informed in advance and it was very adjusting and accommodating to my new career move. I have been lucky.”
